I had a miscarriage at close to 6 weeks just 2 days before Ramadhan started. And as per commonly practiced, the gynae would give a 2-week MC for miscarriages in the first trimester. It was a very sad day for our family :( but I would rather not dwell much on it and concentrate on the very many good things that I have instead. So, the good side of going thru a miscarriage is actually having a 2-week mini vacation all to myself. I really really had a good time doing things at home, I was able to cook (in my own sweet time) for buka puasa, tidy up the house, update my pictures, plan for the future (ahah, i can spend hours doing this :p), and most importantly, I finished watching Nore Elena marathon in just 4 days muahahaha.. memang terbaekk~~~!
Nevertheless, like last year, this year I took the opportunity to cook as many days as time/strength permit me. I've also taken pictures and jot down our 'food journal' throughout this Ramadhan.
I guess putting all 29 days worth of iftar pictures would be too much and the entry would be too long. Here I divide them by week with this one being the Week 1 Iftar.
Buka Puasa Day 1
Menu for Day 1 was
- Nasi Putih

Menu for Day 2 was
- Nasi Putih

- Telur Bungkus
- Sayur Kobis Masak Lemak
Buka Puasa Day 3
Menu for Day 3 was
- Nasi Hujan Panas (minus the coloring for rice)
- Ayam Masak Merah
- Acar Kobis Lobak Merah
- Udang Masak Kicap (special for Qeem)
Buka Puasa Day 4
Menu was Day 4 was- Ikan Keli Goreng
- Sambal Pecel Lele
- Kurma Telur
- Ulam Sayur Gril
Buka Puasa Day 5
Qeem ate a lot, tu yang mama hepi sgt tu. Among the ones I can still remember, nasi ulam, bubur lambuk, pasta carbonara (yang ni banyak), and some desserts. Not to mention he broke one dessert glass as well huhu. All in all we had so much fun!
Buka Puasa Day 6
The very next morning after buka puasa with Aunty Lia and Uncle Yus we went back to Kedah. Bertolak dah pukul 10 pun. Sampai pukul 2++ camtu. But Tok was not feeling so well so Tok only managed to cook the 1st dish of the day, which was Gulai Udang. Mama continued with the rest of the cooking for buka puasa that day.
To Mama's relief (and everyone else's (especially abah) surprise/astonishment), the 2 dishes I cooked turned out great! Haha. Bukan apa, memang I think I cook well, but usually when I'm back at Mak's house, I would freak out a bit to cook for my family that I would always screw up in the past (okela, maybe not screw up, but it never turned out great). So Abah was bit skeptical when he called me (DH, Qeem and me were outside to buy some stuff) and told me Mak was not feeling well and that I can buy food from pasar ramadhan. When I said 'takpala, i'll cook' Abah was like 'hah? betui ka?' huahuahua sampai hati Abah :p
So yes, my masak cabai turned out great, sangat sedap sehingga licin pinggan :D
Menu for today was
- Gulai Udang dengan Kacang Panjang
- Ikan Terubuk Masak Cabai
- Sayur Kacang Panjang Tumis Cabai Hidup
Wah wah wahhh...look at today's dishes. Meriah nampak dek non?? Well, the chef was well by now, hence the many dishes :p Cucur udang tu mak dah plan nak buat semalam tu, tapi tak jadi la sebab tak sehat. My only contribution for today was Kerabu Udang, which Mak liked soo much. We went to pasar ramadhan today sebab dok teringin ayaq nyoq dari start posa lagi. Kat gerai adik yang juai ayaq nyoq tu ada juai cucur cempedak jugak. Nampak menarik, we ended up beli RM3 (24 ulas kecik2). Memang sedap sgt2!
And the other 2 were Abah's request, Gulai Daging and Sambal Belacan. But both did not taste that great so the next day Mak made some especially for Abah.
